Hardys HRB (Heritage Reserve Bin) Shiraz 2013

Hardys HRB (Heritage Reserve Bin) Shiraz

So, as the largest wine maker and owner in the world, Hardys is our most famous wine brand and is a staple on supermarket shelves across the UK. We have so many different SKUs of Hardys wine in our portfolio, from day-to-day bottles through to wines for more special occasions, and this falls into the latter camp.

Australia’s Shiraz heritage is as diverse as its landscapes, and Hardys HRB series brings together grapes from three of the country’s most iconic regions: McLaren Vale, Clare Valley, and Frankland River. McLaren Vale is known for its lush, fruit-forward Shiraz, Clare Valley for elegance and structure, and Frankland River for spice and minerality. Legendary producers like d’Arenberg, Wirra Wirra, and Henschke have made these regions globally renowned, and the Hardys HRB Shiraz blends their strengths into one harmonious expression. The 2013 vintage exemplifies this, delivering richness and complexity with a refined, approachable style.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the HRB Shiraz is a deep ruby-red with slow-moving, generous legs. The nose is inviting, offering aromas of blackberry, plum, and dark cherry, layered with hints of mocha, pepper, and subtle oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-structured, with velvety tannins and balanced acidity that support a core of ripe dark fruits. Flavours of chocolate, spice, and a touch of earthiness carry through to a long, polished finish, reflecting the blend of regions and the careful maturation process.

Wrap-Up
On the taste scale, this wine is full-bodied, rich, and layered, with firm tannins and a lingering finish. Price-wise, expect around £30–40 / $35–50, reflecting its multi-region pedigree and quality. On Vivino, it generally sits at 4.1–4.2/5, showing strong approval among Shiraz enthusiasts. Pair it with roasted lamb, beef stew, or grilled meats to enjoy its full depth and character.
